Mission Statement

Our Mission is to help and support people to navigate through multiple health, justice, housing and other public systems. Our peer led program links consumers to resources, education, advocacy, and provides emotional support and group support. Through these actions, we nurture personal empowerment, wellness and recovery.

Program Description

The Office of Consumer Affairs (OCA) is a diverse multifaceted program. This consumer run program is dedicated to transformation through instigating, advocating, being involved with, and implementing changes to the mental health system. Consumer staff is actively involved in service delivery in many peer support and advocacy programs. We operate two Self-Help Centers throughout the County and;

  • Advocate for consumers by participating and speaking out at Behavioral Health Board and other mental health meetings throughout Santa Clara County.
  • Work alongside clinicians, doctors, rehabilitation counselors and community workers as clinic peer mentors providing both individual and group Peer Support Services.
  • Transitional Age Youth (TAY) is youth between the ages of 16 - 25 who are launching from adolescence into young adulthood. The intent of the Behavioral Health TAY System of Care is to provide resources and strategies to assist this population in being able to successfully transition into the adult world.
