Frequently Asked Questions:

The Santa Clara County Behavioral Health Services Department (BHSD) is committed to community involvement and stakeholder input as a critical avenue to achieving wellness and recovery through comprehensive, well-planned programs and services. Only with community input can we meet the needs of diverse consumers/clients and their families. The purpose of the 2022 Santa Clara County Mental Health and Substance Use Survey is to understand the mental health and substance use service needs of a representative group of community members who live in Santa Clara County. Results of this survey will play a key role in creating improved and new mental health and substance use resources and supports in our community for the 2023-2026 years.

The survey is anonymous and confidential. We do not collect any identifying information such as your name, your birthdate, your social security number, your address, or your IP address. Your responses will not be linked with your name and will not be identifiable.

The survey asks about demographic information such as gender, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, or your city of residence in order to help the Santa Clara County Behavioral Health Services Department determine the mental health and substance use service needs of different individuals and communities within the County. This information helps us to tailor resources and supports to the diverse needs of our community. Please note that you may opt out of providing this demographic information in the survey.

The survey results will be used to understand the mental health and substance use service needs of residents of Santa Clara County. Additionally, they will be used to create improved and new mental health and substance use resources and supports in our community for the years 2023-2026. The results and findings of the survey will be shared on the Mental Health Services Act website (https://bhsd.sccgov.org/about-us/mental-health-services-act) in the Fall of 2022.
