One of our top priorities is to protect patient privacy and individually identifiable health information. We follow the privacy requirements of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) of 1996 and existing state and federal laws.
In compliance with Santa Clara Valley Health & Hospital System (SCVHHS) policy, and to ensure federal patient privacy standards are upheld for all patients, clients, and staff, the Public Information Office must accompany all reporters and photographers while on Santa Clara Valley Health & Hospital Systems property.
Maury Kendall is the Communications Officer for the County of Santa Clara Health System and the Behavioral Health Services Department and is available to respond to journalists' inquiries and requests. Phone number: 1-408-408-793-6666, and office hours are Monday to Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
Recommendations for Reporting on Suicide were developed by leading experts in suicide prevention and in collaboration with several international suicide prevention and public health organizations, schools of journalism, media organizations and key journalists as well as Internet safety experts. The recommendations are based on more than 50 international studies on suicide contagion.
