Prevention and Early Intervention (PEI) Project Strengthening Families and Children

Program Description

Prevention and Early Intervention (PEI) seeks to prevent or intervene early in the development of emotional and behavioral problems in school children by providing outcome-based parenting strategies, mental health promotion and outreach services, classroom wide social skills training, family workshops, and short term therapy services to support children who may be experiencing symptoms ranging from behavioral/emotional distress to depression and anxiety caused by trauma or other risk factors.

Population Served

All students at PEI designated schools, their siblings, and their families are eligible to receive services. Siblings ages Birth –​ 5 are eligible for linkage services to the specialized KidConnections Network of Care (KCN). 

Referral Process
PEI accepts referrals from School Coordinators, as well as self-referrals from families attending the identified School Based Services schools connected through the Behavioral Health Services Call Center.
