The Workforce, Education and Training (WET) component of the Mental Health Services Act (MHSA) supports the ongoing development of the public behavioral health workforce and provides trainings to support their success as an essential element of the public behavioral health workforce.
Program Description
The Peer Intern Program provides an opportunity to consumers and family members to receive valuable work experience and training in a supportive environment. The Program provides placement into a variety of programs within the Behavioral Health Services Department, along with trainings to develop skills and receive supervision to maximize a successful entry/re-entry into the workforce.
The Peer Intern Program provides trainings to develop both the knowledge and skill base of the intern in a variety of areas that include:
- Peer Support
- Group Facilitation
- Program Development
- Clerical/Computer Skills
- Community Outreach
- Information and Referral
Intern positions, when available, are announced throughout both the Santa Clara County Behavioral Health Services Department, and County contract agencies, as well as on the Santa Clara County Behavioral Health Services Department's Website.
